A Scientist position in High Throughput/Content Screening(HTS/HCS) at Institut Pasteur – Seongnam, Gyeonggi-do, Korea

IP-K is part of the well-known International Institut Pasteur network established in Pangyo Techno Valley 12km from the South of Seoul. Since its creation in 2004, IP-K has grown rapidly with currently 150 people from more than 13 nationalities. The Institut research focuses on cutting edge approaches in cell biology, automated microscopy and image analysis to understand cell biology/diseases mechanisms. IP-K drug discovery programs is focused into finding small active compound against infectious agents using Visual High Throughput High Content Screening platform located in a BSL3. IP-K offers an international working environment, opportunities for professional growth and a friendly work and life balance benefits package.

Job Description

Institut Pasteur Korea (IP-K) is seeking a Scientist to join Screening Technology and Platform (STP) of the Center for Core Facilities (CCF). IP-K has developed a novel Phenomic screening and Phenomic ID platforms that are utilizing expertise in high content visual screening and cellular models of disease to look for drug-candidates in a target-free way with following drug-target pair deconvolution. The Phenomic target deconvolution processes is utilizing IPK proprietary microarray technology for siRNA genome screening which allows us to conduct HCS of the whole genome in a significantly shorter time with much higher amount of statistical controls, compared to the plate-based approach. Under CCF, the Screening Technology Platforms group develops and adapts new screening assays based on disease models in collaboration with the different internal and external biological research groups and the Discovery Biology group conducts Phenomic ID and Phenomic Target deconvolution work using microarray technology.

The mission of the STP group is to develop and adapt new screening assays based on disease models in collaboration with the different internal and external biological research groups. These assays are adapted for the High Throughput/Content Screening (HTS/HCS). The screening campaigns are realized with our internal chemical libraries and the screening results analysed in terms of quality and hit identification. The hit confirmation and follow up processes of Drug Development are also an important part of our activity.

Job Profile
The successful candidate will manage projects in assay development, implementation of high throughput visual-based assays for IP-K’s drug discovery and basic research programs and will also manage the compound testing, data analysis and results interpretation as well as other duties as required within STP. The successful candidate will supervise a couple of researches for their work and progress of their projects.

Desired Skills & Experience – Requirements
Applicants for this position should have a Ph.D. in cell biology or biochemistry, with previous experience in mammalian cell-based assay development. The ability to work in a Biosafety Level 3 environment with infectious mirco-organisms is required for this position. A working knowledge of IDBS AcivityBase, Spotfire DecisionSite and other software commonly used in HTS is essential. Previous expertise in chronic disease biology, infectious disease biology, image analysis and high throughput confocal microscopy would be an asset. As the working language is English, good oral and written English skills are also required.
